Recover for targa and new rear section

Had a great blast over a couple of hundred miles over the weekend some with the top off and some on .... I mean the car of course.

What it has made me realise is that the roof needs some serious work and I suspect serious money. The targa section needs recovering and the rear section needs a new window panel at least and may need the mohair replacing as well.
Anyone any recent experience of what this is likley to cost and could point me in the direction of someone that would do a good job but not mean that I need a second mortgage?

By the way, as I am new to TVR ownership, and new to good weather as well, when you fold the rear section of the roof down does the roll over bar always obscure the view through the rear view mirror or am I doing something very wrong?

I always fold it down. It takes a slight tweak to the mirror to get the best rear view and you have to use the side mirrors more, but its worth it!

I had my roof re-done, new roof, recovered targa, new rear window, all fitted in a lovely green colour for £700 from Racing Green in Farnborough.

Paid £700.00 for a recover and new back section

Paid £180 inc. for a new rear screen three months back; this seems to be the current going rate. The job took a day and used a material some 20% thicker than standard. Mine was done way on down in Cornwall though and so a fair old way from yourself. Good workmanship: Cornishmen have six fingers on each hand you see. Roof panel now needs doing coz I've never been a***d to stow it in the bag: Duh!

I've not really seen too many owners that do use the roof bag. I don't bother unless I have anything with sharp/abrasive bits in the boot.

I agree that it's a total pain in the @rse, especially when 'flying solo'. Having been watched by a bunch of chavs trying to get mine in the bag in a local car park (with little success), I've basically given up.

WARNING if your roof isn't black or dark blue then put it in the bag.

If you don't when you stow it in the boot you WILL touch the rubber boot seal of the left hand side (if that's is the first corner in) and IT WILL leave a black scuff mark. Bas-tard to get out! OH
