I have made a note to carry this date over to my new diary when I get it, because this is not a date to be missed, despite this year's frankly disappointing turnout of only 99 TVRs for the run.
Let's try and do better in 2018, shall we folks?

Perhaps if we were to publicise the event a little more???

Hi Phil
We could get more cars into the car park provided everyone follows the marshal's instructions and doesn't decide to do their own thing and ruin the plan.
Anyone not wishing to remain at the pub throughout the lunch stop can park on the road to allow them to escape early.

Yes, I was alarmed at the amount of smoke you were chucking out three or four cars ahead of me. At first I thought your engine had suffered severe damage, then it looked to me like a seized brake caliper was causing smoking pads, then as I pulled alongside, in front of the smoke, I could see that your tyre had let go!
I'm amazed that you were blissfully unaware of it at that speed. ( Just over 45 mph, obviously )
Says a lot for the Tuscan's inherent stability!

Top Tip:
Before commencing a journey, check your tyres folks.

There should be about four.

For those who may have been alarmed on reading the last two posts, there is no need to be concerned:
the M11 is most definitely not included on the "Thrills in the Hills" route.

THRILLS IN THE HILLS "
The High Peak TVR car club are once again hosting the very popular "Thrills in the Hills" Peak District TVR run. In May 2017 we had a record turnout of 100 TVR,s on this run.
This run takes us through some of the best of the Peak District scenery and on some of the best driving roads. We have blasts across the moors, winding twisting country roads, scenic towns and villages, re-group points and turn points (great for videoing all the cars) and amazing Peak District scenery along the way. Part of our afternoon run takes us on the A515, the 1950s Proposed Road Race Circuit for the Peak District. Imagine Jaguar D-types, Ferrari Monzas, Aston Martin DBR1s and 300S Maseratis fighting it out over a fast, narrow road circuit looping over high hills. A circuit almost as long as the old Nürburgring, with every sort of corner and hazard from stone walls and off-camber curves to a narrow bridge under a railway. A circuit in England, on the Queen's Highway. Some of this is part of our "Thrills in the Hills" run.  
If you arrive early at http://www.hassopstation.co.uk/ you have the choice of breakfast before leaving and we have a planned lunch stop at http://www.theknightstable.co.uk/ . The finish location is the stunning http://www.monsalhead.com/ with its fantastic views.
A great TVR day out not to be missed. START HASSOP STATION CAFE DE451NW meeting from anytime 9am onwards, START EXACTLY 10:30am.
We had people from all parts of the UK with us last year. This year is truly an international event now with people already booked and coming from Belgium.

Sod the sat nav. Give me a Wainwright-illustrated guide and I will be happy. Fortunately Erin Dawes, to whom I am related by marriage, is profoundly deaf. Apart from not minding a noisy TVR, she never gets car sick, so is an ideal route instruction reader.
Just don’t test her on geography. She thinks Edinburgh is in Wales......despite having been there......twice!

What kind of time is it expected that cars will arrive at the Monsal Head? Trying to configure onward travel plans to suit.

Here you go - .GPX files - I replicated the route from Google maps into Google MyMaps, exported the .KML and converted to .GPX using an online tool... They import into ViewRanger on my iPad and look the same as the Google Maps route; not checked that against the original sketches...
Use at own risk, no guarantee of accuracy etc etc...
