Hello PH.

So for the first time in my life I have found myself secure financially with disposable income, and as of last week the mortgage on my flat is officially paid off. Also have access to a small garage nearby which has previously housed my NA MX5 which I sold in February in the thoughts of finally buying something a bit more special.

Until recently I have had my heart set on an Elise, but have toyed with a Caterham (factory build, I work on the rigs and really don't have time to commit for a kit). However I have recently been reading into Ginetta as there driver program and race ready little cars look like a very good investment. The Ginetta idea has really opened my eyes to the many small British companies offering niche products in this market. I would like any advice you guys have for whats out there offering a similar niche of a race ready sportscar ready to go at purchase.

Budget of around £20-25k, might be able to push for something very special. Open to both used and new.

All suggestions welcome, currently drooling over new/nearly new Elise 220s in the classifieds, but they are pushing £40k once you have specced in silly things... like a radio... and a roof.

Oh, Zenos! Never thought about them either, very interesting car at good price. But I would really rather have some kind of a roof!, even the floppy tent you get on a Catarham.

Exige I have never been a fan of, I don't know why but they just don't seem to be as iconic as the Elise, while being far too similar, that being said I love the idea of the latest one (Evora rear end, Elise front end), well out of budget though and still I think an Elise would suit me better.

I have also been toying with getting another MX5, my NA had definitely seen better days and was in need of new chassis, but I could get a very well kitted out almost new ND with cash to spare for some OZ superleggeras, a halfcage & a BBR Stage 1 kit within budget, but I worry that that will depreciate a hell of a lot faster than a higher end stock sports car. Brother keeps urging me to get an M3 (he has one), just don't see the point in a sports car that weighs over 1.5tons biggrin

Trying to justify to myself upping my budget enough for a '15+ Elise 220S as I really love the new shape, I wonder how good Lotus finance is...
