All you guys that trackday your Holdens, Hsvs ,Monaros etc. How do you find the following areas of your Car.

BRAKES, feel, fade , power ,pad life etc.

SUSPENSION, roll, stiffness, weight transfer, under braking and acceleration etc.

ENGINE, power response etc.

DIFFERENTIAL, effectiveness, controlllability etc.

TYRE WEAR . Front life, rear life, most effective tyre, sizes used etc.

Any info would be of great use to Me for a research and development project.

Cheers

Wellon our press cars and whats been recommended by Oz-

BRAKES - latest 05 VXR ok , best to use 6 pots though.
SUSPENSION - its a big car , what do you expect? we're fitting ohlins all round for our track car . HSV/VXR set up is ok for most but if you're a driving god then you'll need the uprated units.
ENGINE - we find that additional power always makes up for lack of ability
DIFFERENTIAL - is fine on stock settings
TYRE WEAR - stock tyres last 2 trackdays on the VXR

Critical on the Monaro is to give the components a cooling period ( brakes and power steering ) and the engine/gearbox a sooner than usual complete oil change

Cheers for that,

Is the ohlins suspension adjustable for ride height, bump and re-bound or is it fixed.

Is the vxr suspension just springs and dampers or is there geomtry changes in there too.

I know its a big car but do you find your Hustling it around the track rather than being able to really commit to a corner with confidence, keeping it stable and smooth.

I have done a track day at Bedford in mine. Overall, impressed with the handling, considering the size and weight of the car.

Take a look here:

Well said

You've got have the guts to push on through the initial understeer, with the throttle, then the car goes into nicely controlled oversteer .... depending on how good you are .... lol!
