Employment Lawyer in Edinburgh or Lothians
Discussion
Sorry for the cross-post but this is reasonably urgent and Employment Law bridges both sub-forums.
Can anyone recommend a good employment lawyer in Edinburgh or the Lothians?
Hopefully someone who can offer a free initial consultation to see if taking legal action is possible/worthwhile/cost effective.
Lawyers are expensive and GF, nor me, can afford additional bills at this time if legal action will go nowhere/recover costs.

If the issue is one of statutory employment law then you could use a lawyer from England or Wales as well as one from Scotland, as in most respects statutory employment law operates in the same way north and south of the border. If the matter is one of contractual employment law then you need a Scottish lawyer, as Scots and English law as to contracts are not identical, although they are similar. In employment tribunals, anyone has rights of audience, regardless of tribunal location. Thus as a lawyer qualified in England I can argue and have argued cases in employment tribunals in Scotland. I could not argue a case in a court in Scotland.
There is no such thing as a good cheap lawyer. You can have a good lawyer. You can have a cheap lawyer. You can't have one who is both. A free lawyer, if you can get one, is usually the sort of lawyer who when not choosing to work for free would be very expensive and so free lawyers are often good lawyers.
PM me with details of the issue and I can make some recommendations (not me - I am bored stiff by employment law, and anyway do not come on here to drum up work).
