Hi All, looking for some advice...

My new M140i isn't due to arrive until October (although TRL is doing his best to bring it in to September).

I'm in consulting and at the moment I have no car as I've been zipping around in a pool car borrowed from my current client when work travel is required. I'm starting at a new client on 3rd July and am very unlikely to be able to do the same there.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can get hold of a reliable car for ~3 months? Possibly short term leasing or renting via a hire car company?

The journey to work will be ~65 miles mainly on A roads and I'll be doing the round trip once weekly (Mon am - Thurs pm).

Thanks

Buy something relatively cheap and sell it for a minimal loss three months later? Would be the cheapest way.

Buy some old snotter and you'll get your money back, the older it is the less it will depreciate. Pick the right car and it might go up slightly. Depends how much you can stomach in running costs...

Lots of big engined luxo barges that were big money new can be had for peanuts due to their high running costs...what's the priority cost or smiles per mile?

Buy an MX5. Enjoy it for the summer. Sell it.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Priority is cost. I'm pushing the boat out on the 140 so can't really afford to be shelling out more than £1k for another car, repair costs should it go wrong etc.

Buy a diesel Toyota Yaris with a 12month MOT for 600 quid. Sell it for 600 quid in three months. Enjoy your 70mpg.

for 3 months and £1k just buy a car, any car, privately with a long MOT and make sure it's been looked after. Don't be too specific on what you want, you will never find it.
If you must portray a certain image to clients then short term hire may be your only option. Or can BMW help you out. sell you a car with the promise to buy it back?
