Got my car back from the dealers and found the following marks on the door panels while cleaning it on Friday:

Looks like water damage, maybe a pressure washer. Can't work out how the marks got there, I'm so careful I know it wasn't me. Time to contact the dealer, but I just want opinions as to what caused both panels to go like this??

Is that the perforated leather..?

I cant see why that would happen unless the panels had been bent when they were being removed, but I thing thats very unlikely (and not even sure if thats possible...?) other than that I couldnt really tell I'm afraid - Sorry for not being much help!

The panels have not been bent, the leather looks like it's had something run along it, but the pattern is very random. The leather is swollen/burned looking along the whole length of the mark.

I actually thought it might be snail/slug trails (yuk!).

My dealer just got back to me and they're going to sort it whenever I want. I've got 2 months warranty left on the trim.

Thumbs up to the dealer.

That is good new Trefor, but I always end up asking myself, why the hell do we have to keep taking our cars back to be rectified when we have just spent a shed load of money in the first place??
My door cards were also wet when I had my Tam back (the first time), so I can only assume that if I had your trim, it would have been the same, but being alcantara, it simply rubbed off (the water stains) with a clean wet cloth.
I am going to buy a car cover, and insist the car is covered if left outside for any length of time at a dealer.

Opened my drivers door yesterday to find exactly the same. The car has been washed once, carefully by hand, since delivery a couple of weeks ago and is garaged. Looks to me like water damage but from the rear of the panelsuggesting the door seals around the window aren't working.

My list of woes is getting incredibly long and I'm concerned about leaving it until the 1000 mile service to submit them all. Has anyone had any luck with rejecting a car as not fit for purpose?

Lovely colour! Is that the car TMS had for sale?

What is your list of woes? Minor issues like this with the trim or rattles? Or more serious such as the engine cutting out at 80mph on the motorway/car not locking/leaving you stranded?

If you've not even had the 1,000 miles service yet then has the dealer even had a chance to rectify the faults? I don't think you can reject the car yet!

I'm still thinking that my snails/slugs theory might be the cause of the door panels thing. I'm kind of pleased it has happened to someone else as I thought I was going mad as it just 'happened' IYKWIM. My car is currently missing the panels while they are on vacation in Blackpool (1-2 weeks turnaround).

Hi, yes it is (how long did they have it for sale?) - Mainly trim and fit issues but after starting last night the engine is making rather a strange noise too! I'm no stranger to TVR and appreciate they are hand built with the associated low volume niggles and I have told the dealer who have suggested I make a list so they can sort it at its first service. Just concerned that if I leave it too long I may miss one of my possible courses of action?

I would guess last summer, but they may have had several in that colour as it is so nice. If you bought it after 1st March it should have a 3 year warranty anyway.

Mine is a April 2004ish car and is well built and has now done over 7k miles without any mechanical problems. Just the odd error code (see your other posting) and bits of trim 'going weird'. I had to cure a few rattles myself and tweak some bits to my liking (like levelling the seats a bit).

I don't think you can reject a car without giving the dealers a fair chance to fix it. Do a search on the web and I'm sure you'll find something about this.
