after over a year of fannying about i'm finally getting what i knew i always wanted... 996 GT2 being picked up friday from opc reading.

was initially owned by porsche gb and have in fact found a video on the internet of tiff needell playing with it round some track.

it's red which is actually much better in the flesh than pictures do it justice.... in fact reading had 4 gt2's there the day i went to see mine - 2 blacks and a green. my red'un by far and away stood out to be the daddy of all gt2's...

clubsport spec, large carbon fibre pack. totally awesome. can't wait to get it and fishtail out of the dealer....................................

Wow nice.
I think the only modern Porsche that looks the nuts in red is a GT2.

Enjoy.

you do realise you are 99% to blame for this. your thread that went on and on and on just gave me sweaty mits again for one.

pics will be on line friday afternoon i would think.

any google "red gt2" image search will give you a feel as a short term fix.

congrats mate, wish you well to use it

Eddie Irvine has also driven that car so it has a nice bit of history!

it was one of the 1st and hence has steel brakes right?

Did somebody announce it's buy a GT2 week or something? The prices are gonna start rising before I get mine...

Congratulations, you lucky man...

yes, that's correct. it was a significant influencing factor in the decision.

am i also correct in saying that if you have steel brakes retrofitted to the gt2, you cannot have the yellow calipers? something to do with size of the discs or something? if that's the case then i appear to have the best of both worlds (that is - if like me you prefer yellow calipers..)

i did in fact have a chat with pauline loader at reading on saturday about it's 'history' as i was concerned about its usage in its first year of ownership under porsche gb having seen tiff cane it and no doubt countless others.

i didn;t want to be saddled with an engine rebuild after 2 months of owenership and wanted reassurance that OPC reading would take its history of ownership into account should i come back with a major problem ie not leave me in the lurch... pauline said all the right things, so i am comfortable.

the great thing is that i get a £133 rebate on my current C4S insurance!!!! how does that work!!!

I beg to differ.

But....

GT2 - what a car! Enjoy! Enjoy! And, errr, take it easy whilst you get used to it, eh?

That's a car that's exactly TWICE as powerful as mine....W-O-W!
