Engine No:- Why two numbers/ what do they mean?

Calling on the TVR collective knowledge:

1). Why did TVR put two Engine numbers on my block.
2). What do the numbers mean / if anything.

47A43P00000 according to Rimmer Bros catalog is TVR Griffth 4.3 efi . Which I would have thought was assigned by Rover when the block was produced.

The overstamped/understamped 46A00545A doesn't appear other than 46D00001A a S2 Rover 4.6

Which number is recorded in the Owners manual and the registration V5C documents ? Just wondering if the engine was worked on sometime in its life .

Or Rover used a previously assigned block and gave it to TVR
