Hello all,

I've recently been given an 03 plate vectra with 49k on the clock. It's in ideal condition and I'd like to keep the car for at least a couple of years.

Considering I've got the car for free, I'm looking into getting a media unit installed that will enable hard wired satnav, a DAB radio and USB ports and all the other nice modern things cars come with these days.

I've scoured the internet and haven't really found anything credible that accurately answers my question.

Basically, what cost am I looking at? I won't be fitting it myself, so price with labour included.

Any advice is appreciated,

Thanks guys!

I put one of these in a Megane - fits into a standard double din hole in the dash - don't know if the vectra has a suitably sized hole?

I'll have to look into it. I don't get the car for another week but I can go and make some measurements this evening. Thanks!

Is the car you're getting a late model facelift Vectra B, or an early Vectra C?

The reason I ask is that these cars have very different shaped stereo units, which will have an impact on what will fit, and what won't.

Assuming you have an iPhone or fairly recent Android phone and don't mind using it as the "brains" of the navigation by plugging it in, £400 on a unit that will do Carplay & Android Auto as well as DAB, etc. Also much more convenient for playing music from your phone as you do it all on the bigger screen.

Then a fitting kit for radio wiring, steering wheel controls, etc is £56 - https://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/vauxhall-vectra-c-...

May also need a DAB antenna for that to work - £15 or so.

Labour costs - a couple of hours tops, not difficult work for an audio installer.

Looking at spending £500 minimum on a headunit if you want workable navigation built in (no reliance on phone) and you'll have to pay for updates. There are cheapy Chinese Android units that claim to do all this but feedback is mixed at best.

That sounds ideal to be honest, it's pricier than I thought but I've used the Apple play thing in a new corsa I hired and really liked it. Thanks a lot.

Fair enough, chap. We can't all be total beards. laugh

I'll do it with pictures (the visual difference between a Vectra B and C is marked, so you'll definitely know which one it is after seeing this).

Vectra B

Vectra C

PS: Knowing the difference will help when it comes to Googling aftermarket ICE kit, too. wink
