Currently expat in the USA I have the opportunity to import a car with limited UK taxes when I repatriate. What's good value Stateside? What would you buy? Modern or Classic....

... Hellcat? Vet? Eleanor? Healey? Alpha? NSX? 240Z? ...

Oh, I feared that someone would mention the V word..... Fantastic but brutal... then again, I do have weekend track access including COTA

What's a good year? Would it sell in the UK if I had to? Appreciating or falling?

I was eyeing a few up about 9 months ago, ~$60k for an ~'08-'10 but can't seem to find any atm. The current exchange rate won't necessarily help you to realise a gain right now though!

You are aware you will have to prove ownership of said vehicle in the US for a minimum of 12 months (might be 6) if bringing it here and to nt have to pay the taxes? you also have to keep it for a further 12 months I believe here before selling it to again avoid the taxes having to be paid.

^ This doesn't surprise me one bit.

The simple answer has to be "What do you want to import, own and run here?"
If you're doing it simply as a profit-maker, then you need to be a lot more clued-up.

Thanks, yes I was aware. Shouldn't be an issue. Just looking for something to enjoy here at the moment and then take back and keep in UK. Not necessarily looking to make on it but don't want to loose. Hoping for a little "clueing up" with this post smile

Needs to be something that is plentiful in the US and people want here. The market for LHD US muscle cars must be very small in the UK though.

You'd have to check prices but a good, late, manual Acura NSX got to be a good shout. Enthusiasts won't mind the LHD I wouldn't have thought.

Lots of Jensen Interceptors went to the US and they've been climbing steadily, a dry state Interceptor could be a fine buy.

You need to get yourself a Mustang GT350R they're an epic car with that Voodoo V8 is just a spellbinding car you will have not trouble moving it on especially with the limited numbers Ford builds each year.
