Jesus. I knew it was big but that is LARGE!

The logistics and behind the scenes work must be impressive.

Hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people. Very impressive how the logistics just work.

I delivered some catering stuff in about 2006/7 and it took about 10 minutes to drive across the site, quite slowly.

135000 paying ticket-holders, plus tens of thousands of people employed there in various different roles and whoever managed to get over the fence.

For one weekend of the year, Pilton is becomes something like the 90th biggest city in the UK. The rest of the year is has a population of less than 1000. smile

That photo made something really unappealing reach the next level - I'd rather have root canal treatment than deal with that.

I'll stick to watching it on TV from the comfort of my sofa (with better sound and actually being able to see the artist)

And, yet, if you surveyed those ~150k students, crusties and glampers tramping the greenery and harming wildlife, you can bet your bottom dollar 90% of them would say we must save the environment...

By Monday morning they're more disgusting than the most sickening thing you could ever imagine. I don't envy the men employed to empty them.

Strong men. In both heart and nose! They are heros!

I bet that the men employed to empty them also ARE NOT immigrants.

All this talk about immigrants doing jobs Brits don't want is bks! laugh

Long drops for the win.

I've been a few times. I have no desire to ever go again. It's so huge and yet so cramped in many of the areas. Sub 10,000 festivals are far more manageable.

According to Emily Eavis on the radio this morning, 60K others, so just about 200K on-site.

I'm sure she also said 60% of ticket-holders are first time visitors - that's a lot higher than I'd have guessed.

yes I enjoy watching it on TV but I wouldn't go there if you paid me. Must be getting old.

Blimey, I was looking at the bottom half of the picture trying to see where the stages were, then realised the top half wasn't the local town but the main site!

A serious operation. It would be interesting to see an aerial comparison with Le Mans last week. I know which is the one for me.
