Random Mystery Button...

Guys,
When i was looking over my car prior to making the purchase yesterday i noticed a random button in the centre console that i had not seen on any of the other cars i looked at. It is a round, black, non-illuminated plastic push-on-push-off contact switch type thing and is mounted on the front side of the little cubby hole/tray bit at the back of the transmision tunnel.

Anyone got any ideas what this is likely to be? The dealer thought it might be something to do with the alarm but couldn't say for sure..... Ejector seat, flip down number plates etc with a bit of luck, but more likely something far more boring....

If not i guess it'll be fun trying to figure it out when i get the car next week.

If I had to guess, by its position I would go for a "homemade" way of switching off the interior microwave sensors for the alarm..??

has it got Air-con ? recycle button is sometimes there

I've got this on mine.
If it is about 2cm long and 1cm wide, its a factory extra to enable both windows to be put up/down at the same time, and is also connected to the alarm so that when you set the alarm both the windows go up.

N'ah rocket launchers are on the steering stalks (pull both lights and washers at the same time). That button releases the oil slick at the rear!
