Hi all,

Would it be possble as a winter project for a novice to rewire a Taimar? (I have a garage with power - David Gerald quoted £2,000). I've been told of a kit car company that will make looms to order (basic £50), and that fuse boxes with regulators (aprox. £80) are available.

I've owned my Taimar for a year (this is the first MOT I've had to encounter), and am currently looking at a £700 bill for the mechanical side of things, plus electrics to gain my MOT. Hopefully a friend of a friend, will sort the electrics for the MOT but he isn't interested in rewiring the car, as has been recommended (by the guy who's doing the MOT).

Any advice would be helpful, as in the 12 months of ownership it's the first time the wife has spoken about selling the Taimar.

Rob,

If you're going to be at the Forresters on Sunday, we can look at the problem then (and I mean discuss it, I'm not bringing my toolkit out with me!)

Terminator,

thanks for your offer of Sunday, but the friend of a friend will have the car to sort out the short and getting my lights working Sunday.

Maybe I'm just panicing, but the car has been running so well, such a large bill wasn't expected. As for the lights not working, I can't remember the last time I used them as I only normaly use the car during the day.

Check the headlamp relay on the firewall. On my car the rear of the bonnet hits the relay knocking the wiring connector loose. Good luck, Gary.
