Hi all,

This isn't another "OMG CAR BROKEN SOGA!!!" thread. It's slightly different;

My mother needed a new car, so I contacted an Approved Used dealership for a certain manufacturer to get a used car from them. As the dealership was at the other end of the country, my mother was sent the paperwork for the finance via email and these were filled in by her and sent back.

The car was collected yesterday by a family member who lives in that region and was due to travel down to us the same day (He took my mums old car for PX a few days beforehand). At the point of collection, he signed some papers confirming receipt of the vehicle and confirming the PX details. He mentioned to the salesman that there's a slightly odd noise coming from the car when driving to which he received the "It's normal, they all do that".

We've received the car on our end today and I can confirm that this noise isn't a normal one, there is certainly something not right with the vehicle.

I've read that if buying from distance, the buyer has 5 days or something to reject the vehicle and "un-wind" a deal set in place? I've contacted the existing finance company for the old car who have said that there hasn't been a finance settlement made against our car yet, so if I act now then where do I stand?

Thanks

Far Cough

The obvious answer is ring the supplying dealer and give them a chance to sort it out ( fix it ) or take it to a dealer same marque nearer you and get advice as to the perceived problem. I`ll also add that buying from a "dealer" gives you a warranty of some sort ( depending on car , age or what you agreed ) so you can potentially fall back on that.

Ring the dealer and tell him that the vehicle is not quite right, and give them the chance to sort it or offer a refund, which I imagine they will do if they are an approved manufacturer dealership.
