Ordering parts left/right from front or back/ inside or out
Discussion
Sorry if it's been asked. Searching for some parts for my car. I need what I would call a near side wishbone or control arm. But I'm coming across left and right. I'm fairly sure I want left, and understand near side isn't much good if it's from Germany as they drive on the other side. Just wanted to confirm that the left hand is left when sat in the car.
Thanks
Thanks
You're right this has been asked repeatedly, and will no doubt be asked again. Left is always on the left when sat normally in the drivers seat. Right is the same, and front and back should be really obvious.
Near and off side are long lost terms from the dark ages that don't mean anything to anyone except fitters who learnt their trade in the dark ages.

Really, wow. You have made me feel old. But you're right, I haven't heard it for a long time. Near and off side are long lost terms from the dark ages that don't mean anything to anyone except fitters who learnt their trade in the dark ages.
I feel like the government should have released a memo to update us all to the left/right style of parts ordering. Think of the Internet space that could have been saved!
