First post on this forum....

I want to change the IMS bearing cover seal. The engine does not have a replaceable bearing so i can only check the bearing and replace the seal.

I need to lock the camshafts, does anyone have the tools they can sell, rent or lend me?

Please PM me.

Thanks

Alex

Hi Alex, you don't need to lock the cams, you need to turn crank to tdc, and lock the crank in position, with locking pin. Then remove lower tensioners , without mixing them up, and remove IMS end housing.

Thanks Chris,

Everything I have read (especially on the 3 cam chain motor) says the cams need to be locked as removing the cover allows the bearing to move laterally. I am too nervous to remove the cover without locking them first.

The tools are virtually straight flat bars with notches. I could get some made if I had dimensions but the only ones I can find for sale are included with the IMS bearing kit (and I cannot change the bearing).
