At one stage, I think most of them were going to Japan, so there may not be many in the UK.

From a practical view point, I think a nice K series or Duratec engined car would be as quick while being less expensive to buy and run.

From a heart over head perspective, I would love to own one smile

I had a genuine 1700 BDR HPC for a while and really liked it. They are not fast compared to today's Sevens but are nice to drive and have wonderful character and make a great noise. Think of them as a classic car rather than a quick Caterham and you'll love one but if you want a track day car or something that doesn't need really looking after, than you may want something more modern.

I actually went from a Duratec R500 to one but soon went back. Would love one in the garage to cherish though. Oh, and I REALLY struggled to sell it!!

Good insight guys thank you, I was am looking for 7/ Caterham, over 30 years old to put on Club registration and a BDR turned up for sale via a Japanese web site, here in Australia and I am trying to find out if its still available.
For me its the driving theater and the pure fun of a Clubman having had one, of sorts years ago and want one again now I am retired. I live an out out Sydney in an area called the Southern highlands, that is reminiscent English with villages and cafes and lots of classic cars.
