Hi I am looking for a second car something a bit faster and dynamic to drive than what i have currently. I am looking at around 3 to 5k to spend on it. Looked at stuff like ep3/fn2 civic focus st astra/corsa vxr clio/megane rs etc. Do have 1yrs no claims but trying to find insurance is proving difficult any ideas on good insurance companies willing to spend up to 2k a yr to insure and more if car cheaper etc any help wood be appreciated.

Firstly you need something that is not going to attract a high insurance premium. Maybe start looking at Fiestas, great to drive, plenty around, but you may need to lower your expectations on power if you want low premiums. Any car can be driven fast on today's crowded roads, so look for fun and something to hone your skills with (the biggest skills are awareness and anticipation). Like many of us, what your heart wants and what your head says, may not always meet. See what others suggest.

I'd say a Clio RS with the Cup Chassis fits (especially if you can find one with the Recaros) the bill if you want a N/A fun car, obviously that will depend on your age & how long you've been driving.

What do you currently drive?

Clio RS with the recaros

Or if you want some turbo power:

Focus ST-3 (very good cars but I'd recommend changing the intercooler as it's not really big enough to do the job properly)

They're not that thirsty obviously that does depend on how you drive it but yes they'll drink a bit more than a Clio, just check to make sure you don't have voluntary excess as well as normal excess because if you have an accident you'll have to pay both excesses, apart from that yes they're a real insurance company.
