W220 S class 2002 blower issues
Discussion
One possibility.
Air intakes under the bonnet clog up with leaves, allowing water to leak in to the blower motor area.
This causes the motor to seize solid.
It happened to mine, so I bought a cheap Chinese motor on Ebay.
It looks identical to the original part and actually worked perfectly.
Totally unrelated, after fixing that, the bloody dash switches and clocks have failed.
I hope that is as easy to fix.

Brushes or voltage regulator are also culprits.
This post has some good diagnostic info.

My W210 did exactly the same thing at the start of the hottest week... Took the motor out and tested it across a 12v battery and it worked.
Led me to the heater fan blower motor resistor and ordered 192167033475 item number from eBay. Arrived within 10 days £21.99 any fitted it with minor wiring mod in 30 minutes.
Problem solved.

Implication is that there's no need to remove the motor itself, can you advise where the resistor is?
Shame it's happened when we're in Monaco, with four mates!
Thanks again fellas, looks like some of this weekend will be taken up in the footwell of the big Merc.
I'll let you know how we get on.
And as ever if there's any other suggestions, why'll you're in there type recommendations, or hints and tips please let me know. I always like to learn something when doing such jobs, cheers.
