2014 Mitsubishi ASX 1.6 vs 2013 Nissan Qashqai 1.6 Acenta
Discussion
Dear All,
Please could you help me with your advice?
Im looking for buying a small SUV. Budget around 8000-9000 pound.
I would like to choose between 2014 Mitsubishi ASX 1.6 or 2013 Nissan Qashqai 1.6 Acenta?
Both of them got similar features regarding extras, low milage etc...Only difference, Mitsubishi ASX has Automatic Start/Stop system, Keyless operation system, entry.
I was reading lots of reviews. I could drive ASX and Qashqai in the past, but such a short distance that I cannot really say which one was better so I cannot really make up my mind.
If anyone here got some experience with ASX 1.6 or Qashqai 1.6 or both, I would love to hear your opinion regarding reliability, driving experience (is ASX more noisy etc...)
Thank you in advance.

ASX is smaller than the QQ, the Nissan comparator is the Juke. Both the ASX and Juke have small boots if of issue thanks to high boot floors to give them that 4x4 look.
The larger Mitsi is the Outlander, which is much squarer (and has more interior space) than the Qashqai, indeed it comes in 7 seat form (you need the Qashqai+2 for that). So you're not quite comparing apples with apples, but the two manufacturer's ranges don't quite align anyway.
None of these cars have particularly good driving dynamics (the Outlander is the pick though, but is bigger than what you're looking at), especially in petrol form. Buying petrol may avoid any future punitive diesel taxes, but buying because of something that may or may not happen is a bit of a risk.
Personally I like the little ASX, it feels more solid and upmarket than the Juke, which has paper thin paintwork. The leather you get in the ASX-4 is a lot better than the plastic stuff Nissan use (I had a QQ on 24k, the driver's seat looks worse than my 150k Merc with its real leather, I will not be buying another Nissan).

Be aware the ASX had a facelift in 2012 to the big chrome chin to match the rest of the "family", with some other refreshes here and there, which should be in your budget and would be worth seeking out for future resale prospects.

ASX is smaller, but felt bigger when I was sitting in it, probably due to the wheelbase longer.
Boot size actually bigger than Qashqai
ASX Capacity
Seat up 416
Seat Down 1193
Qashqai Capacity
Seat up 410
Seat Down 660
I'd go for the ASX, purely because it's not a Qashqai.
If that sounds a bit facetious, it was supposed to. Qashqais are generally bought and driven by people who regard cars as just another appliance. You know; washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, car.
The Mitsi has less of the "couldn't care less" about it, and for that alone, it wins in my book.
