Interesting daily ~15-20k
Discussion
Dear Pistonheads
Well it seems a distinct possibility that I will have to move on the from Mini GP (2) as I don't really fit in it anymore. Which is a shame but I am too girdthy for it and can't sit squarely in the seat without being pressed up against the door card / window.
So - ideas for interesting daily drivers would be much appreciated..
10k per year mileage
4 seats and able to get baby in and out of back without dislocating shoulders.
AWD would be nice but not a necessity
Petrol
Manual or Auto (must have manual control avialable e.g. DSG, Stronic etc)
Not going to depreciate at a rediculous rate
Suitable for the girdthier driver.
Having a pram-holding boot would be a benefit but could exclude for something special
Budget ~20k. Again happy to spend a bit less, or higher if something special
Have had all sorts of cars over the years e.g. S4, GS450h, Mini GP2, E61 545 estate, Mk4 R32, Forester, C class, Alfa 166, Fiat 127, Clio 172 cup, golf gti, pug 306, classic mini (was much smaller then...) bmw 1 series
Doesn't have to fast, but want something interesting and fun (one way or another....)
Keep looking at Focus RS, A45, 996 C4s, various m-lites, XE S, ....loads of things that are alright, but nothing that seems to stand out

Was looking at the LWB Wranglers the other day. They look beastly daily drivers and could have some countryside fun too
They are really nice vehicles tbh. All the ruggedness and better off road ability than a Defender, but with akin to Disco 3 levels of equipment and performance.2011+ models have a slightly nicer interior and a 5 speed auto, but older ones are still pretty good and in some cases you can get a manual. 2011 also has a power hike to 200hp, although all years can be remapped to similar levels.
There are even some petrol V6 models, although very rare. Might be borderline on the mpg with the petrols though.
Residuals are also crazy strong on these.
Hot hatch wise the default choice for me would be the Megane RS275:

RS3 not the most dynamic but that engine will keep things interesting.

Plenty of things to consider there - didn't realise the TT-RS or RS3 has gotten below 20k for sensible miles. Will try and find a few of the above to look at interior space of

After much musings, it's looking like it'll be much easier if I get another estates / SUV type thing for dog carrying duties etc. Plus I will fit in more comfortably!
The Jeep Wrangler is off to a rocky start, being described as 'f**king hideous' by my more delicate half
Grand Cherokee / Toerag / Disco seem sizeable....otherwise more dynamic stuff such as;S4 Avant possible. All seem to carry a certain reputation of borkage.
Are there any solid estates / SUVs for <20k that are interesting? Everything I find that looks interest brings up pages of why they break so often

What about a Subaru Forester STI as was suggested by someone in my suggestions thread. JDM import makes them rare on UK roads, powerful, looks pretty cool, big. The Jeep Wrangler is off to a rocky start, being described as 'f**king hideous' by my more delicate half

Lexus IS-F ?
4-door, V8, 20+ MPG not difficult, reliable, and certainly interesting.

Thanks both - Do like the Forester STis but all a bit older than I'm looking for really.
Love the IS-F but no good for doggo.
Hoping to have a look at a 2013 Grand Cherokee this weekend, 3.0 CRD of fumey goodness. Will see if it's any good, seem to be discussed fairly positively on here - and should have sufficient space

Basically looking for the same things again now
Last time ended up with a Audi S4 Avant (B8), which was good, but with baby arriving chopped in for an older Lexus GS450h to be free from loan. Both easily driven fast, comfy etc but a little dull.
The S4 was good, might prefer something a little more chuckable this time....will update the original post
