What you are doing there is repeatedly taking up geartrain backlash in opposite directions & sounds pretty normal & I suspect is not what you can hear on the road unless you routinely sit stationary in your car with the handbrake on engaging 1st/reverse in quick succession.

CV joint failure sounds like someone is banging 2 hammers together on the driveshaft but only when on full lock & applying the throttle.

Whilst it is not entirely impossible that that is what you are also repeating it is impossible to tell until you try the above test.

Cheers for the reply E-bmw it's sorted now (A couple of wheel-nuts had worked loose!).

A couple of wheel nuts hadn't been tightened up. Corrected for the sake of accuracy.
