jim callaghan former labour prime minister! the guy who sat back and watched the unions dismantle the country! the guy who forced our first woman prime minister to take such evasive action to avoid disaster that even feminists dislike mrs thatcher twenty years later, although the grantham shopkeepers daughter eventually became the first woman conservative prime minister!
labour always hated the fact that the iron lady the greatest pm since churchill, came from a working class background!
aspiration to better yourself is a dirty word for new labour/hardly new labour, reliance upon the state is and always has been the socialist doctrine, increasing the proportion of people who either work for the state or depend on the state for thier income has been a way of securing a labour vote for years and years!
basically buying elections with taxpayers money!
labour have spent nearly 300 million of taxpayers money positioning themselves for this election!
ask pensioners if they can be bothered with 45 pages of forms to claim an extra £5 most cant do it and are too embarrassed to ask for help! gordon brown relies on pensioners being baffled by forms when promising money at every budget! are you stupid enough to swallow this again?
vote for who you like but do not swallow thier lies so easily! labour= lies

Not much
They did a great deal though for those who were to become pensioners by helping to create the largest private pension provision in Europe.
and what did Labour do when they came to power-set about trying to destroy it.
Callaghan and Wilson destroyed british industry. I still foam at the mouth at Denis Healey's feeble excuse that he didn't sign the destruction order for the TSR2, desipte agreeing it was his signature! They also forced British companies to get bigger by refusing them contracts until they merged or were nationlised. It killed innovation for years.

Absolutely right Jaglover. Whilst at the same time feather bedding their own index linked state funded pensions - not to mention those of the 250,000 extra civil servants taken on since 1997.
I'd vote Ba'ath before I voted Labour.
I am too young to really remember him, but Callaghan's Demise started me thinking...
