The Griff has started 'hunting' at around 2000rpm ever since the service 2 weeks ago. Is this likely to be ignition retarded too far, or a sign of some other problem? If the former, can I just twiddle the dizzy or do I need to do something more high tech?

Thanks

mmm... mine started the same symptoms. It's currently being looked at by Raven Motorsport with compression down 40% on one cylinder... oh ! I think tomorrow may be a bad day..

which reminds me, better take it off the for sale list......

Presuming that the "service" wasn't in the local church, I think I'd make my way back to the garage and have them sort it out. What items does the bill show they fiddled with/replaced/adjusted etc?

Twiddling the dizzy seems a tad on the low-tech end to me (and potentially painful in the wallet department) however removing the stepper motor to give it a good clean (careful not to cross thread it on the way back) might be worth a try.

Hope someone else can give you a more thorough suggestion - I'm just helping you keep it at the top of the list!

Forgot to mention I went on a track day, the day after the service.

I'd also forget to mention that when you take it back to the service dept at the garage

Does not seem likely to be related to the retarded ignition, unless it's been retarded waaay too much? More likely to be a sensor failure, failed lambda sensor on mine has caused similar symptoms but I believe other faults can cause the same sort of problem. Throttle pot is another favorite. Did the problem start straight after the service, or was it OK up to the track day? If the latter, I'd suspect a sensor failure brought on by heat stress or something.

Hope this helps,
