As above really. I know the time can vary. Bearing in mind though, this was 2 days over 2 months ago now. All my details are up to date on the system. I assume that i should have heard something back by now but it still stays on my mind every now and then.

Anyone had any experiences or known anyone that has dealt with something similar on a lease?

It was a copper at the side of the road with a hand-held laser gun, with no Police vehicle around in sight, which i thought was a bit odd.

Cheers

It can take a long time for it to come through to you. I'd suggest that you're not in the clear yet rolleyes

eta: have you spoken to the lease company?

Yeah, that was my worry. No, i haven't. I've just been playing the waiting game. I've said to myself give it 6 months until i'm fully in the clear. It just seems like a daft amount of time to wait really.

There was a lad on here who got his through pretty quickly though, so it seems to be swings and roundabouts.

NIP must be recieved by the Registered Keeper within 14 days of the offence.
Day of offence is day zero. If I remember right.
Unless you were stopped at the time - in which case you may have up to 6 months (and a bit) to hear from the court.

What speed? Would it qualify for a course or fixed penalty - or is it a straight to court speed?

If the lease company are the RK, then they should have had it and replied with your details. You then get your own - with no time limit (except noting the 6 moths to prosecute deadline as above).

I don't wish to publish on here the speed, with all due respect. It all depends what speed they clocked me at, if at all. I know the course would not apply here so it would either be fixed-penalty or court summons.

It's safe to say that i've been driving like a saint ever since. I know i shouldn't have been speeding in the first place regardless, but it has really scared/worried me and it still does. I've never had any points before.

The procedure, that i'm aware of, is: Police send NIP to finance company within 14 days of the offence, finance company look into the person driving the vehicle i.e. Me, they send it back to the Police with all my details on, the police then forward the NIP to me directly.

That can't take them long to do that, surely?

May I respectfully suggest that you keep your head down and your mouth shut.

If you ask of the lease company they may say:-

"Ah! Bingo, this is who that notice belongs to! I wondered if we had got the initials or the post code wrong!"

My thought process was not to contact them anyway. I shouldn't really have to, i'm not after aiding them any further. They know i'm the name on the lease and the personal responsible for the car. I know that sounds a bit arrogant and obnoxious but it's true.

With that being said, i don't really want this being dragged out for any longer than it needs to. I'm a bit on edge about it anyway still but i could be worrying about nothing. I'll have to wait it out a bit longer i suppose.

Should be safe after 2 months.

I probably gave half a reply as I was on a mobile device.

So, assuming you were not stopped at he time - then there wouldn't be a NIP in the post).
14 elapsed days (not working days) for the NIP to arrive at the RK.
I beileve they have 28 days to reply.
Then the cycle repeats until the NIP arrives with the driver (aka you).

I know the OP said personal lease... but for completeness....

In the case where the RK might not know the driver e.g. a company car... max would be 14 days NIP, 28 days for lease company to reply, a bit of time for camera patnership to send a new NIP to Company, 28 days for company to reply. More time for camera partnership, then NIP to driver.

If straight to court, you should still get your NIP. But it could have gone missing.
  • IF* one has been issued correctly and you haven't got it - worst case is a charge of failure to furnish (i.e. they think you haven't replied) which means 6 points and a fine (but NO speeding conviction!).
SO - there *may be* a reason to chase up if your really think you are due a NIP.
If you remind them and they haven't sent one - then it is too late for them to send one anyway.

Hmmm... It's definitely food for thought in regards to the last few paragraphs. Failure to furnish seems a bit harsh as it would be completely out of my control, but i do understand.

I may give it a bit more time yet and take it form there. I do much appreciate the thorough information regardless though.
