Lovely helicopters, and an especially nice noise footprint from the rotors and turbomeca astazou.

Hard to believe it's a 50 year old helicopter.

Excuse my 100% ignorance in such matters, but does the engine exhaust pointing straight up into the rotor blades not cause any issues?

When you park it you do have to have 1 blade pointing at the front so the residual heat coming up does not point at a blade (so I hear )

Nah - it has a big cooling fan attached to the roof.

Yes

Did you polo chap buy it in the UK? A few years ago a friend of mine imported what was then the only civilian Gazelle into the UK but since sold it.

Very hard to get a Gazelle on the 'G' Reg, and insurers getting quite strict about them.

If it is the one my friend owned, it was purchased in the USA, and had to have a quarter of a million pounds worth of modifications to get it registered in the UK.
