For my sister who does 5k miles pa mainly on school runs , shopping and looking after 3 kids, one 8 the others 14 and 16.
Petrol preferred, reasonable tax and insurance rates ideally.

Focus springs to mind or c max if budget allows. She fancied a Peugeot but I just don't like em the but it's her cash.

Something with reasonable poke given Sheffield is all hills and open to suggestions thanks..

For her budget, which could still buy trouble, I'd be looking for something unfashionable, brand wise, which will mean she gets more for her money. Then just buy which ever car is in the best condition. Any of the usual suspect in that size will probably do her just fine.

Much better to learn in a bigger car park tbh. Stops people being afraid of driving them later on. Or just making a total pigs ear of driving them.
