New TV, reduced volume over Digital Optical connector
Discussion
Has anyone experience reduced volume from a 5.1 system when using a TV's optical out as the audio source?
I have an Amazon FireTV (not the Stick, or the newer 4K version) that was connected to an older Samsung LCD TV, and a Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speaker system.
The video from the FireTV went over HDMI to the TV, and the audio went over an optical cable to speaker's control unit. It all worked fine and did the job very nicely indeed.
Fast forward to today, and I've replaced the old TV with a newer, larger 4K TV (Samsung UE49MU6400). The new TV can output 5.1 via it's optical out, so to use the 4K compatible versions of various video streaming apps I've connected to the TV to the speaker's control unit using an optical cable, and the FireTV isn't in use.
All appeared to be fine, but the audio from the Logitech system is significantly reduced in volume, even with the speakers "cranked all the way up" the volume is very quiet. The audio is working, and it's DD5.1, but it's far far too low in volume. I switched back to the FireTV, connected it back to the speakers, and normal volume returned.
I've had a dig through the various menus on the TV, but I can't find anything that will fix the audio level problem, so short of buying a new 4K FireTV, I don't know what to do next.

Have you enabled the "Volume Boost feature" on your Logitech system?
I though to myself, "There's no Volume Boost Feature on my speaker system", but after a quick Google it turns out there's a feature of my 10+ year old system that I never knew about, so thank you for that!My only fear with that option is that the TV's interface navigation noises are played at "normal" levels, it's the audio from the TV's apps (Netflix, Plex, Amazon Prime) that are at a significantly lower level. It feels like the TV is somehow lowering the volume of the app output relative to the TV, and the sources I used previously. By boosting the gain or volume of the amp's output I'm not resolving the issue, I'm just driving the amp harder.
