Due to a change in circumstances I've sold my house and I'm currently scheduled to move out next month.
Short term, I haven't currently arranged for anywhere permanent to move to but have nearby family with spare rooms and access to a holiday home which I can use. Also considering just clearing off on extended holiday for a while.
Medium term, I'm considering various options including something along these lines:
http://www.sharedwanderlust.com/what-is-a-digital-...
although maybe not as extreme (my job can be done from anywhere).
So the question is, during this period what do I use as my address and/or do I really need one? Practically could I use a PO Box (not sure how these actually work) for any important mail but are there any legal requirements: do you have to be registered for tax, council tax, electoral roll etc somewhere?
My aging mother is nearby so I could say I live there I suppose and pick up my mail but she gets all sorts of single occupancy rebates and I don't want to cause her any bother.
Anybody else done similar or dealt with these issues?

Yes, I've done it a couple of times, I spent a couple of years travelling and living in and out of hotels, short term apartments and what not.Short term, I haven't currently arranged for anywhere permanent to move to but have nearby family with spare rooms and access to a holiday home which I can use. You've got a number of options. If you want to keep your mail private then get a mailbox from someone like mailboxes etc, simple enough to set up.
For your bank account, driving license tax, insurance etc then there is no issue just registering to your mums address - simply having your mail sent there is not going to change her occupancy status - the rule is usually spending something like 90 consecutive nights to be classed as an occupant. Switch your bank account to paperless and bank online.
The electoral roll can be an issue with getting credit in the future, it is better to stay on it if you can at a single address - you tend to need a proper address for things like this and your drivers license etc.
It is well worth doing, very liberating experience to be free of all the constraints of modern life.

Where are you moving to?!
Nowhere, that's the problem! I'm weighing up my options.Immediately, I have use of a (family owned) holiday home but you cannot "live" there permanently or get mail delivered there.
Thanks for the info nyxster. Not bothered about private mail was just trying to be "legit" and not break any rules. OK I think that I will use my mothers address for mail then if it doesn't create any official ramifications. I do virtually everything on line so that should be OK, I'll just miss out on the spam!
It's just what to put for official stuff (car insurance, driving licence, HMRC) then that could be a problem still.
One of the women at work lives primarily in her caravan, has done for years and years, she loves it.
She just uses her daughter's address for everything (which isn't far away if she's in her "normal" site) and has it sent to her in the format
Sarah Smith

123 Fake Street
and that hasn't seemingly been an issue for her, she uses that address on her driving licence etc so when it comes time to update her Airport clearance she still gets that all sorted.
