Cheap sturdy tent
Discussion
Hey
Looking for recommendations for a cheap tent, going camping in a couple of weeks, dug my tent out of my folks attic to find something heavy has been put on it and all the poles have broken.
Only need room for 1 person, as water tight as possible as I camp in Scotland. Trying to avoid spending over £50 which I know puts me at a lot of compromises as I am looking for something a little 'more' that a flimsy festival pop-up.

Ebay. Plenty of people sell tents after only a couple of trips, for very little wedge.
Don't buy something tiny unless you need to for transport/hiking reasons. Camping in Rainland, you will benefit enormously from something you can sit in, on a little chair. Preferably with a little table next to you with a gas ring and kettle on it. Also, room inside to dry yourself and get changed without scrabbling about on the floor. A door that can act as a little porch is also invaluable.
A few little things like this make a BIG difference to the experience.
ETA - something like this (and some waterproofing spray!):

Go for at least a 2 berth. Even if just two of you chuck the luggage etc into one pod you in the other then middle space for sheltered area. A gas ring inside the tent??
<whimper>Another vote for Decathlon for a cheapie. Cheapies tend to be cheap for a reason, though. That sort of budget'll get you a pop-up pustule, which is great to put up, but an utter bd to put away again, and not great for storage back at home. I'm sure that's why so many get abandoned at festivals.

See clarification above. I sincerely hope no one on here would be that dim.Something smallish like a vango soul 200 can be had for 40 - 45 pounds and will do what you want.

Personally I'd not buy a used tent unless epically cheap.
Things do get damaged or missing parts etc.
When I've bought a tent it's always been new and they have lasted many many years and then - not at broken stage they are donated to one of the local charity shops.
So long lasting.
Or go cheap with the understanding it will last one season then bin.
Decathalon do decent ones too not just cheap as chips.

In answer to the OP's Q, have you looked in Go Outdoors? They've got several decent looking two man tents for under fifty quid and even down to twenty. How cheap do you want to go?

Oo, there is a Decathalon about 15 minutes away from me, might be worth checking out but the collection on their website looks pretty pants.
Currently looking at a Vango Talas 200, can pick it up on Amazon primeday sale for just under £30, looks a reasonable size from a good brand, 3000mm waterproofing (which is good? Decathalon one only says 200mm) with a flysheet. Anoyingly it appears to be a rather new model so there are bugger all reviews about for it, I don't know the first thing about tents so I am trying to figure out why it is so cheap compared to their, very similar looking, £120 hiking tents.
EDIT: Talas looks identical to the Soul mentioned earlier, is it possible the Talas is a new model of it as it is has a slightly higher waterproof rating, available for broadly the same price.
