Will Porsche specialist servicing effect residues?

Hi all,

I am contemplating using specialists such as JZM or RSJ act for servicing work etc, the question is will this effect the value of my car come selling time, until now I have always used OPC.

Think it depends who you are selling to. Some buyers will insist on main dealer history, others will be comfortable with a reputable specialist.

In a rare collectors car yes in a run of the mill car not after the 4 to 6 year period.

these are only my personal views not "fact" I have to state this as people seem to think my views are fact !

I would rather buy a car sub 6 years old with OPC stamps myself, over 6 years I don't mind but if I were buying any Porsche it would have to have a OPC 111 check, even though these are not as good as some indy PPI checks, it allows a warranty to be put on a car if the car passes a OPC 111 check.

A service at the OPC also gives you a health check which looks great when selling cars.

I have found with some indies now that the prices are no cheaper than my OPC so it's not worth it. So going forward always get quotes from both and take it from there.

There's a bloke who has a 997 Speedster in Hong Kong who flies it back to my local OPC to be serviced as it was supplied by them and has always been serviced by them. I believe he's an expat who will return to the UK and wants continuity in the intervening years!

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest. In fact I'd actually prefer a car to have been looked after by a specialist. I've used the OPC for warranty work and servicing. Everything else has been with a specialist, more frequent oil changes, transmission oil change, brakes, clutch, flywheel, lambda sensors, engine mount, front suspension and the AOS have all been done at a specialist. Better quality of work in my opinion, and of course, far better value.

A car with a history of invoices rather than just an OPC stamp or two is much more valuable to me. Unfortunately not all buyers see it that way though!

Scenario 1:Ah sir, you are trading up to a popular model, your service isn't all through OPC so it will affect you.

Scenario 2:Ah sir, you are buying a Panamera from us, your car has been serviced by Chas and Dave, not a problem, in fact here is another 2000 dealer contribution.

yep

I have same car as OP, I have serviced it on purchase and annually after that - so 4 times in the last 8k miles

All servicing by RGA Porsche and 9E, prefer them to OPC and much cheaper.

My car will appeal to an enthusiast / petrol head, maybe not someone after a garage queen, but then the former outnumber the latter on 997 turbos IMO
