Anyone visited Autodrome de Montlhéry just south of Paris?
Tiff Needel filmed Napier-Railton film there, some Brooklands style banking.
Much to do or see, would be nice to have a drive too.

My independent Porsche specialist is based by there at Ville du Bois and I was invited there by Porsche to a day of driving new models and admiring racing GT3s. Was expecting to drive at the aerodrome but in fact all the test driving was on the surrounding public roads.

Aerodrome hangers were interesting, full of lovely old antique flying machines, but I have no idea how you'd go about getting permission to drive on the runways. First approach would be to call the aerodrome management and chat with them I guess - speaking French of course!

The surrounding area is not a particularly nice area and the main roads are studded with radar traps, not really my idea of a charming place to visit.

Thanks YP.
Was going to visit Epenay and some Champagne Houses etc via Reims then thought of looking in at Montlhery on way home.

Just searched the net a bit. The aerodrome is preserved by an association of amateur clubs including http://www.autodream-montlhery.fr

Could try contacting them to see if visits are possible.

Does look like fun. Had a look at last years photos for the same event, a lot of beautiful machinery. My Porsche Indy Philippe de Dain was there, makes sense as he's local!
