Selling car to a dealer
Discussion
Have a Porsche dealer wanting to buy my car. They are happy to collect and take it away before transferring funds.
I am somewhat nervous at someone turning up with a low loader and driving off with it. First time I have done this but presume it is normal? How have you dealt with such transactions?

I'd never let a car go until cash in bank and last few cars i've always signed one of these with a witness

Have sold Porsche's to well know indy's such as JZM, RSJ & Dovehouse. As every one else has already mentioned these dealers did their inspection & transferred funds before driving off. I have however had finance owning on a car & the finance company can't/won't comment immediately whether they have received funds; but the above dealers showed me a screen shot of the transaction & was happy to let the car go (as I know these dealers very well & they are well known in the industry).

The only time I came close to selling a car to a "dealer" was when my 2008 Cayman S was totaled. I called a business that specializes in wrecked Porsches and the person I talked to told me the way the deal would go down is 1/2 of the agreed upon sum of money would be transferred to my account then when the driver with the car carrying rig showed up he'd have a check for the other half. I'd give him the salvage title, keys, etc.I am somewhat nervous at someone turning up with a low loader and driving off with it. First time I have done this but presume it is normal? As it was I elected to try to sell the car at a (salvage) auto auction and did.
Even with a totaled car I would have not let the car get away from me without having the full amount in some fashion in my hands before handing over the car to someone.
If it is the gt4.....
You shouldn't be selling it anyway......unless you are desperate of course.
And with the other cars in your garage, you should know better than handing the car over without the money in your pot!
Would you except a straightforward swap for my Cayman 2.7 cos that would be better than what you are thinking of doing?
Good luck with the deal, hope it all goes ok.

Your original post didn't state very clearly whether you had advertised it and they approached you, or did they just contact you out of the blue?
If it was the latter then it would seem to be idiotic on your part to put any trust in the transaction without first investigating how it all came about.
OR
Are we missing something in your post?

I sold a car to an OPC who I had dealt with a few times before for 50K, the money was transferred in to my bank three or four days after they took possession of the car, that's the way they wanted to do it .
