I have a UE Boom 2 which is rugged (water proof) so might fit the bill.

Battery life is around 12 hours.

Sony SRS-X1

i use mine as a radio in the office, 9 hours a day at least, charge every few days

great sound, really compact, loud enough for outside use

its about the size of a tennis ball

I have a SRS-X3 - old version, now superseded at least a couple of times, but still essentially the same tech (I believe). It was about £60 and to me (and reviewers) as good as the £160 BOSE 'reference' mini speaker (whose name presently escapes me).

The SRS-XB2 / XB3 appears to be the current version.

don't do it man, get a minirig. they're built really tough, the battery lasts ages (up to 50 hours - no need to recharge on a long camping trip) , they're made in the UK by proper soundsystem enthusiasts (it was a start up project from scratch by a guy on Speakerplans forum, and they are universally praised by all that hear them

plus you can daisy chain them together if you have more than one, and they also make a sub for it now.

The problem with the JBL are the exposed woofers on each side, can't imagine they are that durable.

UE seemed ok, but the Bose and the B&O sound the best to my ears
