Hi All

A friend of mine has a 350i which was MOT'ed and running and then unfortunately was laid-up outside under a cover for about 6-8 months. Now it just will not run.

I went round a few weeks ago and a couple of guy's were looking at it. From what I could see at the time, the fuel pump was supplying fuel no issue and there was a decent spark. If you turned the key the car would fire almost immediately then cut out instantly.

The car was dropped off at a local garage a few weeks ago to try and get it sorted but they have said its beyond their level of ability to sort out the problems.

So it looks like the car will be back at my mates any day soon. Any recommendations on where to start would be appreciated as I am keen to get the 3rd Wedge in my Road back out and about.

One other bit of info I got before the car went to the garage was someone had got it running on easystart? So it may be a problem with the injectors?

Any help as always would be good.

Cheers Karl.

Hi Karl

I would check with a fuel gauge if the pressure is being maintained in the fuel rail, the diaphragm inside the solid state FPR could of failed, fuel will be getting to the injectors initially but there wont be enough to run the engine...That would be the first port of call for me...

Ziga

PS: You would need to see what the rail pressure is and the stall pressure and return pressure....

Thanks Ziga

I'll have a look as soon as the car gets back from the garage. I have a fuel pressure test kit already at home.

Cheers Karl.

I can also say with confidence that fitting a good adjustable FPR has benefits to the 350i..smile

I'm sure you have checked but I'm going to mention it anyway. Did you put fresh fuel in. After 6 months or so the fuel will have degraded, this may be why it starts on easy start. I have an outboard motor which will not start if I leave the fuel in it over the winter, change the fuel and Bob's your sister's brother.
