Daily Commute/Leisure Car
Discussion
Hi all,
First post here... I am in a position to replace my old 2005 Citroen c4 petrol. It has done 150,000 miles and I am afraid of upcoming repairs, as well as continuos investment in into a lot of fuel and tax. I am commuting around 1600 miles per month, including on smaller A roads. So I need an economical and comfortable car.
I am thinking to buy, using a loan, used (new) Peugeot 380 allure 1.6 purehdi (65reg) 20k mileage. It is at Unbeatable Car in Portsmouth. It has good economy, plenty of toys, decent engine and no road tax. it would cost me around £220 p/m for 4 years. I was also looking at Vauxhall Astra 2.0 diesel Ecoflex. Same price, similar car, similar space. I just think 308 looks nicer and I am a weirdo fan of french cars.
What are your thoughts? should I look at other manufacturers? In terms of budget, I am looking at £10k with finance. Need diesel, low or no tax, very good economy and low mileage

What about this?
It's not diesel, but it's economical. Diesel tax will increase more than petrol over the next few years.

Not sure where you are in the UK but a Ford Focus would be a great shout.

If you want a french car then I'd say go for the Renault Megane in GT Line spec.

TBH I think the Renaults are a good shout, but I wouldn't discount the Vauxhall it's a lot of car for the money comes with lots of kit.
