I sometimes want to put photo's into threads on PH (amongst other things), but I don't know how to do it. Someone told me I need a website such as fotango or similar. Now when I try to upload a photo to this site it won't accept it as its not a 'jpeg' image.

What does this mean? My picture is a 'bitmap' type apparently, taken on a mobile phone ('cos I'm a peasant).

Is it possible to change the photo from a 'bitmap' to a 'jpeg' type image so I can upload it? And if not, does anyone know of a site that will accept 'bitmap' images?

I hope someone on here who is significantly better than me with computers can help, many thanks in anticipation.

Big Al.

You'll need to convert the bmap to a jpeg

To do this open the file up on your computer, it should open in MS paint of something similar.

So far you with me?

OK go to file

Save As

Then save the image in jpeg format.

You should then be able to upload your pics .

You will need to do this for all the pics you wish to upload.

If you need more help drop me a mail.

Goto www.tinypic.com/

then once you have uploaded the picture copy the weblink given

then to post on here just do

[pic*]www.tinypic.com/imageref.jpg[*/pic]

remove the * and make sure their are no spaces, then picture will appear. Fingers crossed.

As for changing an image from a .bmp to .jpeg If you have Win XP I know you can do a save as in Paint Shop to a jpeg.

Its not mine unfortunately. Its just a pic I downloaded from the Triumph website for my desktop, only used it to try it out.

But soon, oh yes, it will be mine. Hopefully

I can still see it.

Try right clicking on the cross and selecting 'Show Picture'.

Blimey its back, how queer (so to speak).

There's some clever people in here, if someone on PH doesn't know, you don't need to know it.

Cheers gang.

Just remember if you delete your picture from your host these pictures will not appear anymore.

Gone again !!! I don't think you have got the correct URL to the photo.

When the picture first disappeared, did you open the Fotango page again and then the photo reappeared ??

Display your picture in Fotango and hit the 'Get a Link to this picture' button on the lower right hand side. The link should then appear above your photo and should be something like 'http://photos.fotango.com/p/eba00441511f00000002.jpg'

Your link is 'http://pics.fotango.com/pictures/0400715588_001P.jpg' - I think this is a temporary link and not the permanent link. That's why you lose your photo from the thread a short time after you exit Fotango.

Stick the correct link in between the pic and /pic brackets and all should be OK.
