Hi everyone, as per the title we are looking for suggestions as our Shogun has seen better days. Needs a minimum tow weight of 2,500kgs, ideally a 4WD for muddy fields and a max of £10k. Don't really want a pickup or anything expensive to fix which counts out an old X5 or similar. Any thoughts? Thanks so much.

Thanks Rich

Was thinking of those but maybe something a little smaller? Someone suggested a Hyundai Santa Fe but I expect that's a bit pants....

My uncle is currently using a Kia sportage to tow 3 cattle to market once a week and has no complaints..you also get that magical 7 yr warranty

The old shape Kia Sorento (up to 09 plate I think) is a good tow car and smaller than a LWB shogun

Calves or finished bullocks? I should think a Sportage would be on it's knees with anything bigger than 3 Jersey heifers in a trailer.

I've just got a 170 bhp Yeti for my first dabble with towing a caravan and its impressed me a lot.
But it will only pull 2100kgs so no good for you.

I think your choice will be limited to tow that weight.

Unless the badge is everything I'd suggest you drive a couple. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks Paintman, badge is no problem - will see if I can find a second hand one for sale and take a look.

There's lots of them on autotrader & not silly money either. (I've recently been having a serious look).

Use the reg to check the MOT history.

I currently run a 30 year old RRC but based on my own experience & that of my customers who've got them that would/will eventually be my replacement.

Just get a newer Shogun.
They still make them.... I saw one on a 16 plate the other day looked just like my old 2004 model.

Jeep Grand Cherokee?

I've just hit 181,000 miles in my old WJ 4.0 on lpg and it can tow up to 3500kg.

Thanks for the suggestions, will take a look at a Jeep as well as the Hyundai. Might take a peep at a Kia as well. Thanks again for the suggestions.
