Day Time Running Lights
Discussion
I'm in the middle of a Cerb 4.5 Restoration, body-off, chassis being restored etc.
I've been turning my eyes to some body modifications that I'd like to make, and I like the speed 6 headlight conversion (not blended) and I've been looking at the various different type of Hella 90mm lamps you can get.
I'd really like a set of these daylight running lights in either the 'top' or bottom position of the speed 6 pod (this is a link to them here)

Then with a normal headlight/high beam for the other 90mm position, which looks like it is advertised as a HELPR02, they're advertised here, as this will do both dip and main at the same time with a clever solenoid inside;

Is there anything for MoT etc that I need to know before we build this kit into the car?

DRLs are a great idea.
I'm sure you know this but make sure they switch off when you turn the headlights on. I added some to a previous car and they had to do this otherwise they are too bright at night. Also, you may come unstuck if the DRLs are too close to the indicators as they can 'mask' the turn signal by their brightness.
Many newer cars actually have the DRL dim when the indicators are used - using a relay for alternate switching with the headlights is easy enough but I'm not sure how to do this one!
I'm just thinking these matters through as you will have your lights close together with a new set up.
I would love to see photos with this operating as thinking about it myself but placing the DRLs lower down as a strip instead of a circle.
My 10c.

I believe (in the UK) there is a construction & use reg about the general positioning and also distance from the indicators for DRL's (Google is your friend).
An MoT tester mentioned something to me a few months ago in relation to the auto dimming whilst indicating DRL's seen on modern VAG group etc cars - technically these cars should fail an MoT when the time comes as (I'm paraphrasing) 'no light should affect the operation of another light' . . . I'm not a tester and don't know the in's and out's but food for thought. . .
If anyone doesn't spot a Cerbera coming they shouldn't be on the road, as they clearly don't have a soul.

Volvos have been running daytime lights since I can remember and any car sold new in Sweden has to have daytime lights as standard. If a Cerbera ever went to Sweden from new it would have had them fitted. You may find a wiring circuit not currently used for that purpose already on your car perhaps?
And also drl are just a constant lit sidelight bulb so just turn your sidelights on each time you drive? Problem solved regarding fitting them then

My plan was to always adapt my quad headlights. Instead of the separate sidelight that would have been the indicator, sidelight moved into the dipped pod and the usual lower indicator would be either fogs or DRL.
Well there is a new solution Im going for. No lenses have to change, just the replacement of bulb type

These will be wired into the existing power/lights and include resistors.
When power on they are DLRs in the front indicators but then when the pulse to indicate/hazard is sent to them the white light turns off and the amber indicators do what they do. Its been done by a FB user and Im really looking forward to this mod. They are only a straight swap if you have the clear lenses I suppose nut as I already do its game on.
