Sounds like you're in the same position as us - you had the end of year report this week then?!

We used Tutor Hunt.com - very happy with the results we've had.

It's been a niggle for some time, but yes. She is literally years ahead in everything else but finds maths 'boring'. She sees little use for it so it's time to find someone who can make it fun. i'll take a look at your suggestion. Many thanks.

No problem - you are in exactly the same position as us then. The bloke we're using is a Y5/6 maths leader at another school fairly local to us & is helping immensely. Try to avoid the students that are completing their degree - as soon as they get offered a job you'll be dumped.

Found a local chap but he only tutors yr 7 plus. Has oxford math degree, great cv, 3 kids of his own so can relate. I'm not going to select a student, we don't allow labour in our house smile

We found the best way was ask around the parents with older children for a recommendation.

We use Magikats. I think they're a franchise. There's one in Guildford, but we use the one in Cardiff.

Had a excellent experience with them, Eldest started in Year 3 with a lower than average grade for Maths, near bottom of his year. He goes once a week for 45 mins and has to complete 5-10 mins homework a week for them (which you are NOT allowed to help them with). He's leaving Year 6 on Friday with a grade 5 (grade 4 is the required grade for end of year 6) and he's been working on High School Maths for a year.

The Lady that runs ours is a former Head Teacher and current Schools inspector.
