Tag Aquaracer (Automatic)
Discussion
Hi guys,
looking for some advice. I purchased a tag (CAF 5011) about 7-8 years ago. I managed to drop it and the day indicator must have slipped a cog and was not displaying correctly in the window.
I took it to a local place who managed to fix it for £30 (I know).
Needless to say, the chronograph does not now work properly (it loses a ridiculous amount of time when it's on) and the stop watch second hand no longer quite resets to 0 - which is infuriating.
The watch could do with a service. I'm interested in receiving reasonable recommendations and getting an idea as to whether or not a service would resolve those issues (I think it should). I don't really want to throw anymore money at the watch if it's not going to be 100%
Thanks!

If you owned and Aston Martin and you crashed it into wall, would a service fix it?
No, but in this instance, the service cost (£400-£500) apparently included a complete strip down and rebuild. It apparently includes replacing the crown too.Just interested to hear what others' experiences are. I'm reluctant to spend the money if it's not going to make any difference.
Basically a Valjoux 7750 movement, which has been around for decades. Any competent watch repairer should be able to service it.
Could be a slipping clutch, or just a loose hand. If the small seconds hand is working properly, it shouldn't be anything too serious.
If you take it somewhere reputable, you shouldn't be charged if they can't fix it

Thank you. Yes, the small second hand works fine.Could be a slipping clutch, or just a loose hand. If the small seconds hand is working properly, it shouldn't be anything too serious.

Is there a go-to place that guys here use. A high-street place quoted £500 or so. My wife came in behind me as I was making the enquiry just in time to hear the quote.
Mrs. OMB commented: "That's what he paid that for the watch!!!" The sales assistant very nearly dropped me in it
