Major Gatwick disruption

Just as a heads up to anyone looking to travel from Gatwick or picking anyone up. There are loads of flights delayed and some cancelled which can only get worse as the latest news is that all flights are stopped at the moment.

There has been disruption since early afternoon following a reported puncture on a departing flight which returned to the runway. The emergency runway was being used.

I would guess some major damage to the runway surface for it still to be closed hours later.

It's open but like you say worth checking with airlines before heading to the airport.
