Hi,

I've noticed these dark brown marks (less than 1mm) all along the lower sills/bottom of door area on my car. They're mostly behind the front wheels. They're not tar spots, not stone chips and seem to be embedded in the clearcoat. They're not rust either! Is this the sort of thing that IronX will remove?
The car is a Lexus ISF - notorious for very dusty brakes! Grateful for any ideas...

In a word - yes, Iron-x or similar contaminant remover will make short work of that...spray over the whole car after a wash and while the car is still wet (not in direct sunlight ideally), you may be surprised how much fallout the car has collected over time.

cheers

Chris,
Thanks for the advice. I see there are a few brands of this kind of product out there; are any better than the others?

Nope.

All use roughly the same chemicals.

500ml should be enough for one car.

You could get the britemax deal, clay bar and an iron remover (you use the product as the clay lube so two in one process).

Or kkd, envy valeting etc etc

Obviously once you have used iron x or similar, you wont have any wax protection left on the car.

Id advise to spray locally and avoid getting it on plastic trim and rubbers.

Clay afterwards then follow up with a good wax.

Paint should be nice and smooth afterwards.

I've started using Carpro Trix for this, removes tar and iron in the one product

Yes lots to choose from, all contain the same reactive ingredients I believe, just some have a higher % of it than others.

Carpro IronX was the original and is still one of the most powerful/effective.
Gyeon Iron
Dooka bleed
Bilt hamber korrosol
Autosmart Red7

All excellent.

cheers
