o.k might be stupid but my policy end date is the 23/07/2017, am i covered all of the 23rd or does it end at 23:59 on 22nd. can't see anything to say.
I *believe* it will end at 2359 on the 23rd, however only sure way to know is to ring your insurers and ask them. For sake of a 10 minute phone call, worth it to avoid 6 points, big fine and vehicle being seized.CoreyDog said:

NIP is in the post for that uninsured 60 seconds between 23:59 and 00:00.
If it says it runs out 23:59, then you are covered for 23:59.....all of it. So 23:59:59.99999rec seconds.
(Mine states it runs out at 12:00 noon on its last day)

I guess you say it's 11:30, the tp say it's 11.30, the police report says 11.30. Guess you're ok.

Ooo, good shout. Your policy runs out at noon. You haven't renewed it because you're going to take it off the road and store it abroad. So it's 11.30am in the foreign country your are in, and you're driving the car for the last time to your lock up, when you crash it. But it's 12.30 in the UK at the time of the accident. Covered?
I guess you say it's 11:30, the tp say it's 11.30, the police report says 11.30. Guess you're ok.
But you've got three bald tyres, non standard wiper blades, you filled up with 99 Ron fuel instead of 95 and your MOT expired at 23:59 UK time. I guess you say it's 11:30, the tp say it's 11.30, the police report says 11.30. Guess you're ok.
Now what?
Not sure how it is these days but insurance companies used to use noon or 23.59 and it wasn't standardised.
Had a long and interesting conversation with a customer once because we were diddling him out of half a day's worth of insurance because his start time and end time were twelve hours apart. It was a long time ago so his premium was pretty small, I calculated that we owed him seven pence for the missing half day
Then I realised that we were in a leap year so he'd actually had a free twelve hours instead.
I told him I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the extra money from him.

Still the same now. But they don't check it anyway these days.
