I’ve been an Orange customer for the last few years, and they called me yesterday to offer me a free upgrade to a 3G handset (I’m only 9 months into my current contract). Obviously they’re hoping I’ll spend even more with them.

I’ve heard all the negative comments about the Three 3G offering – but does anyone know if the Orange 3G network’s any good and worth signing another 12 month contract for a free phone? Also, I’m presuming the handset to have is the Nokia 6630, and none of the others.

I have Voda 3G on a SE V800 handset, and 'tis very good.

The WAP browser is very fast, and you'd be surprised how often you'd use it.

'Er indoors got a Sayno S750 yesterday.

Its quite big but fully featured.

In the first 3 months you get 1Gb of transfer which is very handy for her to pick up emails.

I'll let you know...

I went from Orange (after being with them since 1994) to Three and I have to say I'm glad I did.

I used to work in the phone ind. Bear in mind that the contract with Orange is unaffected by the handset issue that you have been having. They are obliged to provide a service to you, based on their network availability. All they did was supply you a handset at a discounted price to facilitate your access to their network. The warranty & problems you have are with Sony Ericsson. (And my heart goes out to you, as I had similar problems with my T610 all last year - 11 handset exchanges in 12 months.)

Call Sony Ericsson, explain the problems, and they are really good, they will take the handset in and fix it or replace it. Their turnaround time is usually no more than 48 hours.

Give 'em a call direct. (number taken from the SE website is 08705 23 7237 )

Best of luck...

Chris

No problem, just trying to help.

I just have 24 months of experience of dealing with this problem on a daily basis...

I am merely suggesting that you appear to be having little joy persuing Orange (and in my experience, little will probably change) and that as a fellow PH'er I thought you might appreciate a possible solution to your problem to minimise the inconvenience.

Flat out.

It's great being able to have two windows open at the same time...
