Midi fuse

I've got a thing which looks like a midi fuse (see www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.uk/VWPweb2000/fuse-2/fuse-2.html and scroll down) inline with a black and white wire in the loom to the ECU. The fuse and 'holder' (2 female blades) are bound up in loom tape with all the wires.

Is it a midi fuse?
What's it there for? The wire alone doesn't look capable of carrying much more than 10 or 15 amps!

I don't seem to have the '100A fuse' on my car - surely this isn't it?!

Are you refering to a diode, conmmonly found taped to the AFM loom? it will have spade connectors at both ends, probably with some Lucas markings on it.

Midi Fuses / strip fuses are generally interchangeable.

Yeah it's got Lucas on it and a jumble of numbers. Looks like no diode I've ever seen though! Looks like a midi fuse!! Ta.

Well it is made by Lucas, cunningly disguised of course so the exhorbitant cost can be justified no doubt :-)

If anyone other than me is bothered, it turns out to be a resistor in line with the wire carrying ignition pulse to ecu.
