That's my penny's worth.
Seems to me they did a cracking Job at Aston Martin - another British sports car company which was under-performing. The DB9 and V8 Vanquish are woderful end products. If you combine the "economies of scale" of an enormous company like Ford, together TVR engineers and designers, it would be a sure winner - in my opinion.
The downside to current owners would be that they'd build more reliable cars and have better marketing, so they'd sell more and TVR's would lose some of their 'scarcity value'.

You reckon? The Astons are Jaguar XJS's in drag and the new Jag saloons are Mondeo's in drag. I reckon Ford have destroyed the essence of both companies, even if the products are much better from an accountants point of view.

Destroyed both companies..? By that, you mean saving Jaguar from meltdown and folding… bit like Aston, who had never made a profit in their history.. and er… saving Land Rover from a similar fate having been asset stripped by BMW. Yeah, good call…

Unfortunately Ford could not afford it they are Millions in debt as it is from buying White Elephant companies

Sorry I recon sell it to That bloke last night on Fifth Gear trying to set up an arab F1. He sounds like he has a massive passion for (fast!) cars.
Hmmm. thinks Ford ....I know lets put 4 wheel drive and fill it full of airbags and then longer wheelbase with proper seats (with pretentioners) and oh ABS, EBD.. and then up the bhp by 100 to counteract the weight, then ......yes..yes.. oh s

I dont give a t)ss about BMW or Mercedes as i is English and i live in England.. Not Germany...
I'll worry about great british marqués and let Germany look after their own..
If Ford bought TVR i feel my next car purchase would be a err Noble or id be buying the book called "How to build a British car and not let an oversize accountancy firm buy it!"

I hope that TVR will ever stay independant!!!!

And we are lucky that the Russian guy understand that! And doesn't forget that TVR is today the only sport car manufacturer to be independant! TVR is the descendant of the tradition of real British sports cars!
And i m sure that we love them for that!

what mass car producer would send out a car that weighs 1 tonne, with 400+ bhp with NO Traction Control, NO ABS, NO ESP BSP ITV MTV malarkey???
And I for one love TVR's for that reason.. They are just plain mental.. I dont believe any big corporate would understand or accept that principal!

If we're not careful, one day every car we drive will be a Ford, every cup of coffee we drink will have been made by Starbucks, every burger made by McDonald's, every product bought from the same supermarket...
TVR's independence has allowed it to build a catalogue of exciting, driver-focussed cars without having to pander to the men in suits with calculators.
If TVR were bought out by a large manufacturer, it would be a very sad day indeed. It would be an appaling event, marking the death of the British sports car industry and the marque would no longer hold any appeal for me.

And fortunately TVR dont have a reputation in the press for bad cars.. A touch unreliable maybe.. but definitely not bad.
and a workforce of 6000+ either..

Hmmm... you live in essex & you slag off ford. Whats wrong did they turn you down for a job there?
BTW I do work for ford and some of the engineers would know what to do with TVR, but agree that Ford as a company wouldn't.
