I usually have to press the button under the door mirror 3 or 4 times before the door will pop open, as this happens on both the passenger and driver side it is likely to be something that is common to both. Has anyone else had this ? Could it be a dodgy relay ?

My passenger door did this in the hot weather only and turned out to be a dodgy solenoid. Replaced it and all was well.
Blow me down if the same thing isn't now happening on the drier's door a year later. Same symptoms, sticks in hot weather only.
My point is that both solenoids could give up at the same time, especially if they're both the same age.

On my last car, the plastic covers over the button under the mirror had accumulated gunk such that the button wasn't pressing home properly. Pulled off and cleaned out.

It's the door buttons. My drivers door mirror has been bodged big time by the previous owner so I'm taking the opportunity to change them. Project Mk1 TT mirrors is under way.
