remote control garage door accident

Was unloading something from the boot the other day, car was in the garage, arms too full, so put the keys in my pocket, caught the garage remote, bloody door shut on the boot lid, only touched for a second, then reversed.... but alas, chip in paintwork on the boot edge, any ideas about repiars, and costs involved?
Not answering your question at all I'm afraid but jsut thinking about how easy an incident that is- would it not be sensible to affix some sort of buffer( e.g a strip of foam pipe insulation cut to shape) behind the bottom edge of the door so that it wont damage the paint should it happen again? The previous owner of mine had made some nasty chips in the boot area with the roof. The dealer suggested a respray and after a mate started as franchiser I gave it a shot.
The results are stunning, no marks left, way faster and, more important, much cheaper

The only problem could be the colour. As I know from my enquiries they can only deal with "one pack" colours, whatever that is. If the colour is one of the starmists you can forget it.

You can call TVR and ask for the color (color code to be found in the engine bay), they'll tell you what color it actually is and chips away will be able to tell you whether they can match it.

Thats not quite true. The problem is that TVR will not release the paint formula for some of the colours they use, "Starmist Blue" being one of them. Other formula's like Starmist Chianti, Green, Grey and Cosmos have been released and can be mixed by ChipsAwayhonestfreddie said:
I need to speak to another Chipsaway francise then becasue I phoned TVR and they gave me the colour code for Crimson Starmist (an ICI colour) but Chipsaway still said they could not use it because it was a "two pack" paint and they can only use "one pack" in their process. So TVR are apparently trying to help and I am getting a sore head.

Your right MOST paints do come from other manufactures. If you can find Starmist Blue from another Manufacturer let me know!! Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
